INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — An off-duty Anderson police officer involved in a shootout trying to recover a stolen vehicle near Arsenal Tech has been charged for his role in the incident.
The Marion County prosecutor on Friday filed charges for two counts of criminal recklessness against Maurice Magee.
Online police reports show Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department was first called to the 600 block of Woodruff Place Drive West near Arsenal Tech High School around 6:30 a.m. May 19 for a “person shot” incident. The call type was later updated to a “shots fired” run.
According to the prosecutor, Magee said his vehicle had been stolen and he started tracking the vehicle using an Apple Tag.
