A charity fundraiser has been launched for a young Glasgow doctor who died suddenly in his sleep despite showing no signs of ill health.

Dr Ashwin Bali, 26, from Bearsden, had been planning to travel around India with family after attending a wedding when he was found unresponsive on March 16, last year. Dad Sanjeev Bali, who found his son in bed, told how he died in seconds after suffering Sudden Arrhythmic Death Syndrome (SADS).

Sanjeev, who is a partner with Glasgow law firm Gildeas Solicitors, told Glasgow Live: "You never expect to go into your son's bedroom and that's it. It was a massive shock to find him unresponsive like that.

"We had been on a holiday to India primarily for a wedding, but we were going to tour parts of India. He passed away after the wedding."
