From Opening Day through May 2, Bellinger had 118 plate appearances.
The Yankees slugger got off to a slow start, hitting .196 with three home runs and 16 RBI in those 29 games. His .614 OPS ranked last among qualifying Yankee hitters.
But Bellinger has been on a tear ever since.
In another 118 plate appearances from May 3 through Thursday, Bellinger batted .317 with six home runs. His 19 RBI during that stretch led the Yankees — even ahead of Aaron Judge’s 18.
Bellinger’s 1.5 wins above replacement (WAR) over that span ranked 13th among MLB position players, according to FanGraphs, while his .957 OPS ranked 14th.
