WATERTOWN, New York (WWNY) -Border Patrol agents detained six people in Watertown Friday morning.

It happened around 10 a.m. at the corner of Franklin Street and Sterling Street.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection says a traffic stop was made to do an immigration inspection.

Officials say six people with illegal alien status were detained.

They are being processed at the Wellesley Island Border Patrol Station, where officials say agents will determine if any of them have criminal records.

Border Patrol agents can make immigration inspections anywhere within 100 air miles of the United States border.
