The Helena Public Schools board is expected to make decisions that brewed for months within the community regarding a potential Hawthorne Elementary School closure and budget shortfalls at its June 10 board meeting.

The meeting will be 5:30 p.m. at Lincoln Center, 1325 Poplar St.

Hawthorne Elementary School, 430 Madison Ave., was seen on the chopping block for years, but now, decisions about its future remained on the table.

Parents, community members, teachers and staff have commented on the possible closure, some said it was a good idea, while others believed it would be a detriment to the community's faith in the district.
