A state employee is accused of stealing the identity of a prisoner to obtain a $51,000 loan payment for the purchase of a Mercedes-Benz and other fraudulent activity, according to Rhode Island State Police.
A 45-year-old Johnston man who works for the Rhode Island Department of Transportation, was arrested Tuesday, June 4, state police Major Kenneth M. Moriarty said.
He is employed by the Rhode Island Department of Transportation (RIDOT) as an Engineer Tech II, Moriarty said. Typically, engineering techs provide technical support to engineers.
