The countdown to Elon Musk and Donald Trump ’s epic fallout started as soon as their bromance began. Long before the chainsaws and the spurious salutes, there was always only one way that an alliance between two megalomaniacal billionaires who see themselves as society’s saviors was going to end.

And now, here we are.

After days of holding his fire in the face of Musk’s online tirade against the GOP spending bill, Trump fired back Thursday, threatening on Truth Social to “terminate Elon’s Governmental Subsidies and Contracts,” which he said would be the “easiest way to save money in our Budget, Billions and Billions of Dollars.” He's also—gasp!— reportedly considering selling his Tesla.
