PIGEON FORGE, Tenn. (WATE) — Crews in Pigeon Forge responded to a resort Friday morning after a water line may have caused a significant mudslide near cabins.

According to the Pigeon Forge Police Department, they first received a call about the mudslide across Ridgetop Way around 6:15 a.m. Friday. A department spokesperson shared that officers on the scene believed the mudslide was caused by a broken water line

In addition to officers, the city's utility department responded and turned off the water.

The police spokesperson explained that the road where the mudslide happened is a private road. He added that there are people in a cabin above the slide, and while they are not in danger, they cannot leave.
