King Charles III made a surprise appearance at South by Southwest London on Thursday, meeting with London mayor Sadiq Khan and Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner for the inaugural edition of Austin’s festival across the pond.

“In the inaugural year of South by Southwest London, we are honored to welcome His Majesty The King to Shoreditch,” SXSW London CEO Max Alexander said, first reported by Deadline . “The festival is a profound acknowledgement of the strength of the United Kingdom's broad cultural and business landscape, its artists and entrepreneurs and the importance of breaking down the silos that separate those domains.”
