GRAND RAPIDS, MI – Three Grand Rapids-area teams secured spots in the girls soccer state semifinals with Thursday’s regional championship wins, and another has a chance to join them on Friday.

Byron Center, GR Christian and Unity Christian all celebrated wins, and seventh-ranked GR Catholic Central will compete for its first regional title since 2018 in Friday’s Division 3 matchup with No. 10 Traverse City St. Francis at Big Rapids.

In Division 1, 12th-ranked Byron Center won its first regional title since 2021 after defeating No. 6 Midland in an overtime thriller that saw the Chemics tie the game in the final minute of regulation, before Bulldog sophomore Ella Leyendecker netted the game-winning goal with less than two minutes left in the second overtime period.
