Midea recalled about 1.7 million U-shaped window air conditioning units on June 5 due to a risk of mold growth.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission shared details of the recall , which affects U and U+ Window Air Conditioners made by the brand and sold under brand names including Midea, Comfort Aire, Danby, Frigidaire, Insignia, Keystone, LBG Products, Mr. Cool, Perfect Aire and Sea Breeze.
The affected units may fail to drain pooled water quickly enough, which can lead to mold growth and result in respiratory issues or other infections in some users of the product, the CPSC said.
