COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW), the City of Colorado Springs, and the Pikes Peak Outdoor Recreation Alliance are inviting families to Get Outdoors Day on Saturday at Memorial Park.
The free event runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and features hands-on activities like fishing, archery, rock climbing, kayaking and stand-up paddleboarding. Organizers expect thousands of people to attend and say the goal is to help families of all backgrounds connect with nature and try something new.
This year’s event also coincides with Colorado’s Free Fishing Weekend, meaning no license is required to fish anywhere in the state. CPW will give away fishing poles to the first 800 youth who arrive at the lake’s giveaway station.
Organizers say the event promotes outdoor educatio
