ONEIDA, N.Y. — New York State Police Superintendent Steven G. James appointed Major Kevin M. Reilly of Geneseo, N.Y., to serve as the 34th Commander of Troop D.

Major Reilly started his career with the State Police on Jan. 8, 1996, when he entered the New York State Police Academy. He was promoted to sergeant in March 2003 and assigned to State Police Horseheads. Then, in August 2003, he was appointed Station Commander and was assigned to State Police Rochester over the next four years.

He was then promoted to lieutenant in October 2007 and was assigned to Headquarters Traffic. Reilly was then appointed to the rank of captain and assigned to Professional Standards Bureau West. On Feb. 12, 2015, he was assigned to SP Rochester as the Zone One Commander, where he served for 10 years.
