LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — Nevada Gov. Joe Lombardo has vetoed a bill that would have explicitly criminalized the filing of a false slate of presidential electors.

SB 102 was one of 32 bills that Lombardo vetoed on Monday, June 2, the last day of the legislative session, according to the Legislature website.

The bill, which passed along party lines, would have created a new provision in state law that would make it a felony to create or serve in a "false slate of presidential electors." A conviction would have led to a prison term of one to four years and a fine of up to $5,000.

The bill was written after Nevada Republicans submitted a slate of six electors in 2020 claiming to be for Donald Trump, despite Joe Biden winning the state's presidential election.
