I recently had the pleasure of seeing the production of “Hamilton” at the Smith Center for the Performing Arts.
The theater was sold out, as it was for the entire run. What really excited me was the large number of young people, dressed to the nines, who attended. Who could have believed that these kids could put down their phones and enjoy a live performance for three hours?
Another thing I noticed during the show: Alexander Hamilton and Aaron Burr have a number together and when they sang the lyrics, “immigrants get the job done,” there was a cheer from the audience. I have seen this show two times, and I had not heard an audience react that way. I guess it’s the times.
