HOUSTON (KIAH) — A powerful message demanding change was displayed high above the Southwest Freeway Thursday evening as immigrant rights group FIEL and their supporters dropped a massive banner that read "Education Not Deportation."

The peaceful demonstration took place on the Dunlavy Bridge from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., drawing attention to immigration reform and access to education for undocumented students. The event featured a 50-foot-long banner as a visual statement to local drivers and passersby.

FIEL, short for Familias Inmigrantes y Estudiantes en la Lucha, is a Houston-based, immigrant-led civil rights organization that advocates for fair immigration laws, access to higher education for all—regardless of immigration status—and the protection of families facing unjust circumstances.
