A Montgomery man is in custody after police say he shot and killed a victim during a theft.
The incident happened around 10:44 p.m. on May 1 in the 900 block of West South Boulevard. According to court records, it happened outside of the Waffle House.
Once officers arrived, they found 18-year-old Jaydon Lewis with a gunshot wound. He was taken to a local hospital where he later died.
Court documents say 18-year-old Zavion Rhodes, of Montgomery, shot and killed Lewis during the course of committing a theft of property.
It says Lewis was ambushed, then Rhodes “rummaged through the vehicle looking for a gun.”
Rhodes is currently in the Montgomery County Detention Facility on no bond.
