Hutto will continue to invest in Flock camera technology, according to the city's mayor. Flock produces automated license plate readers (ALPR), which have received criticism elsewhere in central Texas over data privacy concerns.

Hutto Mayor Mike Snyder released a statement on social media saying that the city will continue to invest in technology that helps "catch ANYONE who messes around in our city."

The mayor went on to say he had concerns about how the information collected by ALPRs is used.

"Hutto has safeguards in place," Mayor Snyder said. "As an elected official, I think it is our responsibility to ensure that the safeguards are kept."
