EL PASO COUNTY, Colo. (KKTV) - The first class of the El Paso County Sheriff’s Posse is now sworn in after six weeks of training.
During the training, the volunteers learned to assist with traffic and accident control, crime scene security, crowd and traffic management for special events, and other law enforcement-related duties.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, this posse has been in the community for less than two decades.
“Growing up here in Colorado Springs, I remember attending the Little Britches Rodeo with my grandparents, going to the county fair. And those are community events that are rich in culture and history,” El Paso County Sheriff Joe Roybal said.
The Posse’s first appearance will be at the Western Street Breakfast on June 18.
