PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, Va. (DC News Now) -- Investigators are working to determine what caused a billowing fire to ignite at a home on Thursday evening in Nokesville.
The Prince William County Department of Fire and Rescue was dispatched to the 10300 block of Windy Ridge Lane just minutes after 6 p.m.
Once there, firefighters found a single-family home heavily involved in flames.
Everyone was able to evacuate safely. One person tried to extinguish the fire and was evaluated for a minor injury.
Based on the location, crews had to initiate a rural water supply operation.
The home was significantly damaged and seemed unsafe to live in. The Red Cross is working to help five people who are now displaced.
