SAGINAW, MI — And their next chapter begins.

Saginaw United High School seniors Michael Baldwin and Torrion “TJ” Stevenson were among the school’s first class of graduates to earn their diplomas Thursday, June 5 .

This time last year, Baldwin was a junior at Arthur Hill High School. Stevenson was a junior at Saginaw High School.

Saginaw Public Schools leaders dissolved both longstanding institutions — considered crosstown rivals for generations — and centralized high school studies at the district’s new Saginaw United High building in fall 2024. That’s when the two 17-year-olds became classmates.

Since then, they earned a series of first-time accomplishments for the new school.

On the wrestling team, Baldwin became the institution’s first state champion. In the classroom, his grades
