GREEN COVE SPRINGS, Fla. — If you want an excuse to play hooky or need to start your weekend earlier, Boat Skip Day Friday may be calling your name.
Before you head out on the water, you may want to double check your emergency kit and ensure life jackets are onboard, as law enforcement agencies plan to keep a close eye on boaters for the day.
Deputy Brooks Morrell, a marine deputy for the Clay County Sheriff's Office, said they're anticipating up to 7,000 boats out on the water Friday, making it crucial that everyone is boating safely not only for passengers on their own vessel, but for everyone else on the water.
"A lot of people don't really know the navigational rules, basically the rules of the road or the rules of the water, kind of like you have on the road," he told First Coast
