DORCHESTER COUNTY, S.C. (WCSC) - A teenager has been arrested and is facing several charges, including attempted murder, in connection to a May shooting.

The Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office says a 16-year-old suspect is charged with attempted murder, possession of a weapon during a violent crime and possession of a pistol by an unlawful person.

Deputies were patrolling Thursday on Braly Drive in the Greenhurst Subdivision, searching for a person who matched the description of a wanted suspect in a shooting.

When they encountered the teen, deputies saw a bulge in their right pants pocket that appeared to be a weapon. The suspect attempted to run but was quickly caught, deputies say.

The teen was later positively identified as the suspect in the shooting.
