LINCOLN, Neb. (KSNB) - Nebraska lawmakers approved multiple bills that we have been tracking this session in our Deep Dive program.

Governor Jim Pillen has approved four of five the have passed, and is expected to sign the last one shortly.

LB 89 - Stand with Women Act

LB 89, introduced by Omaha Sen. Kathleen Kauth, at the request of Gov. Pillen, would define male and female, and set limits on locker rooms and sports.

The bill starts out by saying that men and women‘s spaces have been diluted by court rulings, and that this bill would rectify that.

Section five of the bill then requires interscholastic or intramural teams to be expressly designated as for males, females, or coed. It then bars these organizations from accepting anyone who is not of the specified gender from joining tha
