WHEATON, Mo. — Storms rolled through the area Friday morning, bringing strong winds and heavy rain. Some areas are seeing some damage following the storms, including in Wheaton.
The town had multiple limbs down, trees uprooted, some garages damaged and power lines toppled over.
One local church, Body of Christ Outreach Ministries, had its garage door blow in and flip over. The wind tore a significant hole at the top of the main building, exposing beams and insulation. A semi-truck on the property had even been knocked over by the wind.
Pastor Gene Robinson said he never would have imagined a storm like this hitting his church and his town.
"It could have been a whole lot worse," Robinson said.
