ST. LOUIS - It's now been 10 years since Mitch Harris accomplished a rare and ambitious feat: Graduating from the U.S. Naval Academy and later reaching the Major League Baseball stage with the St. Louis Cardinals.
Mitch Harris, who pitched for the Cardinals during their most recent 100-win season in 2015, was the first Naval Academy graduate in nearly a century (at the time, the first since 1921) to play in the majors. His path to the big leagues was anything but ordinary.
Now, Harris has a book in the works that dives deeper into his journey, titled "My Private War: Relentlessly Chasing A Dream — From The Navy To The Major Leagues." The book recounts the challenges of military service and the determination it took to pitch in the big leagues.
