DETROIT - It’s fast. It’s steep. It’s borderline dangerous. The Michigan slide known for countless viral videos has just opened for the first time in 2025.

The famous Belle Isle Slide was supposed to open for the season on May 23rd, but the Michigan DNR says it was waiting for new curtains to arrive and be installed.

The slide is open on Fridays from 12:30 p.m. - 5 p.m. and on Saturdays and Sundays from 10:30 a.m. -3:30 p.m. The cost remains $1 per ride.

The slide made international headlines in 2022 when video went viral showing people going down the metal slide dangerously fast, getting air and slamming down on the unforgiving track. We shot our own must-see video in 2022.
