As the days get longer and we inch ever closer to those glorious Montana summer days, it is time for our annual look at summer music festivals around the state.

First up is Zootown Music Festival, July 4-5 at the Missoula Fairgrounds. Headliners this year include Irish singer Hozier, Americana artists like Kacey Musgraves, Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit and Lake Street Dive, and indie rock acts like Modest Mouse and Mt. Joy. A personal favorite in the line-up is LA LOM, the Los Angeles League of Musicians, a Latin-inspired instrumental band that I had the pleasure of seeing live last weekend. Local acts on the bill include The Dead & Down, Lost Canyons and Cole and the Thornes. One-day tickets start at $169 and two-day passes start at $309 at www.zootownfestival.com .
