SIOUX CITY, Iowa – A Cerro Gordo County man has pleaded guilty in federal court to possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine.

Dustin Burkhardt, 36 of Rockwell, now faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years and a maximum possible sentence of life in prison.

On September 29, 2024, law enforcement conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle driven by Burkhardt. Officers say they saw an open container in the vehicle and conducted a probable cause search. The search turned up a glass pipe in the center console and a backpack from the front passenger footwell.

Investigators say inside of the backpack was another pouch holding four zip-top baggies containing 137.12 grams of pure methamphetamine. Burkhardt told law enforcement all of the methamphetamine seized belonged to him and h
