FOREST CITY, Iowa – What started with an attempted murder charge is ending with a sentence of probation.
Jose Alberto Carrera Patino, 31 of Forest City, was initially accused of attempted murder for shooting at another man three times on February 10, 2024. The Forest City Police Department says the gunfire in the 100 block of North 4 th Street came after an argument in a year-long feud over a mutual girlfriend.
Court documents state three bullet holes were found in a brick wall at an apartment complex in the area of the shooting.
Carrera Patino eventually pleaded guilty to the reduced charge of intimidation with a dangerous weapon. He’s not been ordered to spend five years on supervised probation and to complete all recommended substance abuse and anger management treatment.
