Social media platform Reddit, represented by John Quinn and a team from Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan, has filed a suit against Anthropic that alleges misuse of its content for AI training without alleging copyright infringement.

Reddit alleges Anthropic trained its AI models on data from the site without a proper licensing agreement, profited from the illicit use and violated Reddit’s user agreement. The suit filed Wednesday in the Superior Court of San Francisco County targets the maker of the Claude artificial intelligence technology for breach of contract, unjust enrichment, trespass to chattels, tortious interference and unfair competition.
