SEATTLE — The Spokane Street low bridge, also known as the West Seattle low bridge, will be closed this weekend.
The closure will start at 7 a.m. on Saturday, June 7 and last through Sunday, June 8. During the closure, crews will reinstall a newly repaired hydraulic cylinder, which helps turn the 14-million-pound bridge so it can be opened and closed for ships – about 1,500 times a year, according to the Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT).
The closure will affect all land travel, including driving, biking, and walking.
The bridge, built in 1991, crosses the Duwamish Waterway and connects West Seattle and Harbor Island with the SODO and Duwamish Valley neighborhoods.
