Catawba County prosecutors and investigators said that a mass shooting that happened Sunday on Walnut Acres Drive in Catawba County was a gang related, targeted attack.

Four out of five men charged with attempted first-degree murder in the shooting appeared in Catawba County District Court on Friday. Of the four, two received bonds from Catawba County District Court Judge Mark Killian.

A woman that is charged as an accessory in the case also appeared.

Catawba County Sheriff’s Office Maj. Aaron Turk said the investigation suggests at least four shooters fired into a crowd of 103 people attending a pool party from a neighboring hillside along Walnut Acres Drive on Sunday. Eleven people were injured and one person was killed in the shooting.

A probable cause hearing will be held on June 2
