PEORIA ( 25News Now ) - The Peoria Fire Department said local photographer Elsburgh Clarke has devoted countless hours, day and night, to documenting their work.

“The people from the 911 center will page me if there’s a major fire. I get in my little Prius, and I go,” he said.

For over 20 years, he has photographed the firefighters as they respond to threats to life and property.

“When they come home and there was a major fire, and they were tired, you know, this is what it looks like,” Clarke said.

Thursday, the department gave him recognition for what that art means to its members.

“We have the ability as a command staff to reference those [photos] very quickly, and see what they were going through. We know it, deep down inside, but to get that visual impact is very powerful f
