COLUMBIA — Former Columbia Second Ward Councilperson Lisa Meyer said she "wholeheartedly endorses" Ken Rice for the seat, according to an email obtained by KOMU 8.

Rice is one of two hopefuls for the open seat following Meyer's resignation from City Council due to health reasons. Rice and Vera Elwood will vie for the seat in a special election Aug. 5.

Rice said in his campaign announcement that Meyer, who was elected to City Council in April 2024, personally asked him to run, and he has previously posted a statement from Meyer on his campaign account saying she endorses him.

Meyer sent an email to Rice's campaign email on Wednesday stating her endorsement.
