Tammy Mitchell-Moore drives from Cambridge to Fergus a few times a year to visit friends and family.

A trip on the Easter weekend came with a delayed surprise, however, when a ticket arrived in her mailbox. A speed camera had caught her travelling 59 km/h in a 40 km/h zone.

The fine? $123.25. Of that, $95 was for the speeding offence, $20 for the Victim Component Fee and $8.25 covered a licence plate search.

She’s not alone.

Another Cambridge driver, Susan Miller, was caught by the same camera. Her ticket was $208.25 for going 62 km/h in a 40 km/h zone.

And Dianne Smith, a friend of Miller’s, was fined $98 for driving 43 km/h in a 30 km/h zone on Highway 9 in Fergus one Saturday.
