SAN DIEGO (Border Report) -- Tijuana's Luis "Pantera" Nery has signed a contract to fight for the W.B.A. featherweight title in Saudi Arabia on Aug. 16.
His opponent is England's Nick Ball, the undefeated and reigning champion.
Back in February, Nery defeated Kyonosuke Kameda, earning him a shot at Ball.
Nery, 31, was born and raised in Tijuana and turned pro at the age of 17.
Currently, he has a 36-2-0 record with 28 knockouts.
Nery has been a world champion in two different weigh classes, owning the W.B.C. and Ring magazine bantamweight titles between 2017 and 2018.
He's also held the W.B.C. super bantamweight crown from 2020 to 2021.
Nery still lives and trains in Tijuana.
