Clarkson's Farm viewers will recognise Alan Townsend, the skilled handyman played a pivotal role in aiding Jeremy Clarkson with his new pub venture.

He was tasked with helping the ex-Top Gear presenter to renovate the establishment, now christened the Farmer's Dog and have it up and running by the August Bank Holiday.

Yet, during the season's finale, Alan disclosed he was due for a heart operation.
