CARROLLTON, Ky. — Kentucky State Police (KSP) is investigating an off-duty sheriff's deputy who fired at two fleeing suspects early Thursday morning in Carroll County.
According to police, the Carroll County Sheriff's deputy found a suspicious vehicle parked on private property along KY-55 around 2 a.m.
After a brief interaction, the driver of the vehicle accelerated toward the officer in an alleged attempt to hit him. The officer then shot at the suspect's vehicle, KSP said.
The driver was able to flee the scene and continued driving north on KY-55.
Authorities said the car was found crashed in a wooded area and both occupants had fled.
Multiple law enforcement agencies searched the area for the two suspects, including using drones.
