Nevada's cage-free egg mandate will resume on June 20 as egg prices continue to drop.
In February, the Nevada Department of Agriculture temporarily suspended the state's cage-free egg law due to ongoing shortages and skyrocketing prices.
The Nevada law bans sale of eggs from non-cage-free hens. The minimum usable space requirements for egg-laying hens under the law is one square foot per hen.
The temporary order was issued to address rising egg prices and supply shortages caused by an avian flu outbreak that began in 2022.
As of June 2, More than 174 million chicken, turkeys and other birds have been affected, according to the Centers for Disease Control .
Following the order, egg supplies have increased and prices have dropped $1.37 per dozen across Nevada, according to NDA.
