School bus inspection reports for Missouri K-trhough-12 schools are in.

Lt. Eric Brown with the Missouri State Highway Patrol told Missourinet it takes a long time to complete inspections for the thousands of buses across the state.

“So, it is a two, three-month process that is managed by our Driver and Vehicle Safety Division, said Brown. They’re looking at all different things. From the brake systems, bumpers, the crossing control arms, fuel systems, to the mirrors, seat belts. A lot of different things they are looking at through these inspections that being sure that they are all in good condition and functioning loke they are supposed to help keep our children safe.”

Of the thousands of buses examined, 799 were rated as defective upon initial inspection.
