SAINT GEORGE, S.C. (WCSC) - The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division has charged a former police officer with stealing and selling firearms from the Saint George Police Department.
Scott A. Oliva, 52, is charged with misconduct in office, SLED spokesperson Renée Wunderlich said.
While Olivia was employed as an officer with the department between June 2023 and Jan. 2024, he willfully and knowingly stole and converted four guns into his ownership from his employer, according to the affidavit.
He then took the stolen guns and sold them at Money Man Pawn Shop and First Cash Pawn in Summerville.
Oliva was booked into the Dorchester County Detention Center.
The 14th Circuit Solicitor’s office will prosecute the case.
