SENECA, S.C. (FOX Carolina) - The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office said a drug trafficking suspect is behind bars after a law enforcement pursuit on Wednesday.

Qawi Aziz Kabir, 55, had outstanding warrants when a deputy spotted him near Garden Circle in Seneca. Instead of stopping when the deputy tried to pull him over, Kabir reportedly sped off.

Deputies chased Kabir until he pulled into a driveway at a residence on Hiawassee Drive. Kabir ran into the woods, but deputies ran after him and said they took him into custody without incident.

Kabir was transported to the hospital for a laceration above one of his eyes, which the sheriff’s office said he told them was caused by a fault.

Deputies said they found marijuana in Kabir’s car and 5 grams of cocaine in the woods.
