AUBURN, Maine — Expansion is progressing at the Auburn-Lewiston Municipal Airport.
Construction on two new hangars and upgrades to the terminal are expected to begin in the coming months.
The nearly 700-acre airport is establishing a new niche to meet the increasing demand for housing corporate, charter, cargo, and recreational aircraft, while also attracting new aviation businesses.
A new taxi lane will be constructed to accommodate aircraft arriving at the Auburn-Lewiston Municipal Airport.
"They will continue toward Flight Line Drive, where the first 10-unit hangar will be built," Airport Director Jonathan LaBonte said.
He explained that crews will break ground on the new T-hangar in the coming months.
Currently, around 80 aircraft from across Maine are based at the airport, and
