BEXLEY, Ohio — Capital University has named Jared R. Tice as its 18th president.

Tice will take over the position after the current president, David Kaufman, announced his retirement in December.

Kaufman became Capital’s interim president in July 2020 and was appointed president in July 2021.

Kaufman's last day will be June 30 and Tice will assume his new role on Aug. 1.

“I am deeply honored to serve as the 18th president of Capital University. Drawn to a culture deeply rooted in its nearly 200-year Lutheran tradition and open to innovation, new ideas and possibility, I believe Capital is uniquely positioned to prepare students, not just for success, but for purpose-filled lives of leadership,” Tice said.
