Toronto Police are reminding everyone of the importance of window and balcony safety, especially in homes with young children, as the warmer months approach.
The reminder comes after a six-year-old boy fell from a 10th-floor balcony in the city’s west end Thursday afternoon. The child remains in critical but stable condition in hospital.
Police say always keep windows locked when not in use, install window guards or stops to prevent windows from opening more than a few inches, move furniture away from windows to prevent children from climbing up, and never rely on screens to keep children from falling as they are not strong enough.
