SALEM, Ore. (KATU) — Several Oregon Department of Forestry Fire Protection Districts have announced the start of fire season, implementing necessary fire danger levels and restrictions to curb human-caused fires.
Fire danger levels, which can be low, moderate, high, or extreme, are determined by local fuel conditions, weather, and other potential fire hazards. These levels may vary throughout the year.
Public use restrictions on activities are enacted during fire season to reduce the number of human-caused fires and may fluctuate as conditions change.
Conditions across the state are becoming more susceptible to wildfires due to reduced rain and high temperatures.
