SPOKANE, Wash. — Spokane fifth graders are taking city planning into their own hands, through the digital world of Minecraft.
On Monday, June 9, the City of Spokane Planning Team will partner with Spokane Public Schools for a hands-on student workshop at Frances Scott Elementary School.
The event is part of the Smart Growth America Community Connectors Program, which focuses on equitable neighborhood development in East Central Spokane.
From noon to 2:45 pm, city planners will work alongside fifth-grade students to reimagine their schoolyard and the area around Frances Scott Elementary. Using Minecraft, students will explore new possibilities for how their school and neighborhood could better serve their community.
