A garbage truck wedged between two Interstate 10 ramps in New Orleans for weeks was removed by the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development on Friday afternoon.

Crews pulled the stranded truck, previously wedged on an I-10 westbound entrance ramp for weeks, off the roadway, hauling it away around 2:15 p.m.

The vehicle, now decorated with graffiti, was over height because of an added dumpster when it got stuck on the ramp on May 19. The vehicle also hit an overhead girder and crashed into a steel support column, causing structural damage to the Airline Drive ramp above it.

After the roadway was cleared, crews worked to begin inspecting the bridge and the mangled beam left behind by the crash.
