CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - A mother and her child were found dead in northeast Charlotte on Friday afternoon, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.

Charlotte police said on around noon on Friday, June 6, officers were called to help assist Medic with a call at a hotel on Equipment Drive near West Sugar Creek Road.

Once officers arrived they found a mother and child dead at the scene, according to officials.

Officials said that the homicide unit was called to conduct an investigation.

At the time of this writing police did not provide how the mother and child died.
